Hello from Maine

Hi Gear Pagers,
I've been reading a lot over the past month or two and really enjoy and appreciate all the shared info here.
I'm a semi-pro musician with a stonesy sounding indie band. Player for 25 years, but just getting into pedals.
My main amp is a brownface Fender, 63 Vibroverb RI, and I am looking for light dirt for it.
Right now I am looking Menatones so I'm going to go over to those forums and try to get some help.
Looking forward to talking to you all.
Thanks!
Dr. Weed

Just curious: Where in ME are you? I'm in NJ, but spend time in Maine every summer....

I'm in Bar Harbor, which is on Mt. Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park. Have you ever checked it out?

Been there many, many times.

One is forced to wonder: when you already live in paradise, where do you go on vacation?

Went camping in Acadia back in 1995 when the boys were 12 and it was most memorable for sure. I'll never forget how dark it got at night in that forest!!!

Yes, I've been there, it was my last camping trip I've been on and I'm seriously overdue for another round.

Maine is a strange place, as I'm sure you are well aware of that. I worked there one summer in the mid '80s, at the Old Colony gas station in Ogunquit after it was bought out by Charter Food Stores for whom I was erstwhile employed. I knew nothing of its (Ogunquit) reputation until I told people where I was going to be working. Last year, in a burst of nostalgia, I tried to retrace my old commute from Dover, NH to Ogunquit, ME. I didn't think it was possible, but I think it was even more overgrown than before, plus all the tweakers must have stolen the metal street signs. I got so horribly lost, it wasn't funny. I did find the gas station, and other than the name, it hasn't changed a bit. I swear there was Twilight Zone theme music and ghostly apparitions when I walked in there.

I've got a real strong hankering to invade Maine again this summer, I'd like to go so far as Boothbay Harbor, where the family of a friend of mine has a b&b type of place right on the water. When he got married, we stayed at Smugglers' Cove, and I saw my shadow by starlight on a moonless night, the first time in my life I've ever experienced that.

Plus I just found out a couple of days ago that one of the two surviving HoJo restaurants is in Bangor, ME. I need this trip, real bad.

For some reason, I can see Christopher Walken saying that to John Travolta in Hairspray. Where does it come from? I Love Lucy?
