Question Classical....<$700

A friend of mine is looking to buy her daughter a classical, south of $700.00

The kid has been playing 2 years....

Any recommendations for a good, solid axe?

Absolutely as I speak from my first guitar experience which I still have many years later.
A Yamaha Classical will be perfect. Check out the net or a guitar store.
Price for a really good guitar $300 even less. Now go for it!

I've been really impressed with the Cordoba C9 and C10. The C9 is all solid cedar/mahogany and goes for $699 at Guitar Center. The C10 is also all solid and comes with either a spruce or cedar top on a rosewood body. Sells for $999 at Guitar Center. If you look on eBay or Guitar Center's used site you can find either of those for significantly less.

Older Hirade H5 models are also a good deal, as are Takamine 128/132 models. And as the previous poster mentioned, you typically can't go wrong with a Yamaha.

Kenny Hill New World Estudio Guitars are the best bang for the buck in the Classical guitar world. I compared mine to 30+ classicals at Gryphon Stringed Instrument Shop it sounded the best. One just sold on ebay today for $395.

There's a Cordoba 45R on Hello Music today for $549. I know nothing about classical guitars, but maybe someone else can say whether this is a good price.
