PSA for all who have purchased StewMac's Guitar Tech Screwdriver Set...

and have either lost or broken a bit like I did.

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Tools/Screwdrivers.html

StewMac doesn't sell replacements bits, and buying a whole new set just to replace the two bits I broke was out of the question so I was left looking for replacements bits elsewhere. Enter Wiha tools.

http://www.wihatools.com/700seri/750serie.htm

They had replacement bits that were nearly identical to the StewMac kit. The bit's weren't cheap ($2.42 each), and shipping was more than I would have liked (I ended up buying some other stuff to offset the shipping costs a bit), but in the end it was still a lot less expensive than buying a whole new kit from StewMac. You never know when those will be the bits you need for the job.

Here's a pic of the original broken bits side by side with their replacements from Wiha:

When I bought my kit a few years ago Stew Mac was selling the bits individually as well. Has that changed?

A great little screwdriver kit BTW. Been very happy with mine and wanting to buy another.

You know I swear I remember the individual bits as well, but that might have been for the previous kit. Anyway, when I called to ask if they sold the bits individually, since I couldn't find them in the catalog, they said no.

Damn you StewMac!!! I've purchased replacement bits in the past for my kit. Thanks for posting a new source. I wonder if they will work with the old-style kit.

The old style kit has the little ball bearing to hold the bits in, the new style kit doesn't. I'm not sure if they are interchangeable or not.

About 10 years ago, they sold an actual Wiha screwdriver set. The Wiha name was clear as day in the stewmac catalog photo. It was not the interchangeable bit type though.
