Awesome! Thanks Zac!
Any particularly hair raising repairs or last min 'Oh Shit' moments you can share? Love hearing about that stuff. One I remember reading from Eric Clapton's tech was when he still toured with Blackie, Brownie and a couple other vintage strats. He spent the day sheilding one of them, but it was humid, peeled up and shorted out in the first set. that'll give you indigestion.

I've worked on six or seven of Nugent's guitars this year and last summer's tour crowning and polishing the frets and setting them up. Have always enjoyed hearing the crew stories and seeing the gear that gets used by him and the other acts.
Doing a few more guitars next week for him too. |

Worst gig ever was CMA fest in 2003. All the gear was covered with tarps that were tied down. A tornado warning sounded, and security made me leave the stage. The wind then proceeded to rip the tarps off, and then the rain started. When they gave us the all clear, I poured a pitcher of water out of a Dr Z ES RX head, and even more water out of the back of his 2-12 cabs. Guess who had to play next? I was able to get 1 program on the GCX switcher to work, and 1 amp and cab to function for 3 songs. The next day was a recording session for another artist doing a duet with Brad. I got his 2 60's AC30's out of storage and brought some of my own pedals for him to use. Let's just say I made a lot of phone calls, and spent some money. Nothing like what Chad dealt with after the 2010 Nashville flood though.

MIKE!!! How have YOU been!!?? I am doing GREAT!! The ole Thorn is still a bit of a work in progress. The neck backbowed on me after the flood, so a great friend of mine and I are going to steam it back into place when I get home later in the year. Other than that, a couple of cracks in the finish is the extent of the damage. I will fill you in when I get it done.
Gig nightmares? A couple come to mind. The microburst that took the roof off of the shed we were playing in Raleigh, NC (we literally had 2" of water on stage) was one. A bad ground taking out the guitar rig completely would be another. Both were sleepless nights afterwards!!

I'm never complaining about my job again. All the shows I do support for are corporate speaking engagements and the biggest issue I get is someone wanting to change a powerpoint 2 minutes before the C-something-O goes on stage to speak.
Great stories though.

Ive never worked as a tour tech, but Ive worked as "visiting local doctor" alongside my share and I have a very high respect for you all! In that capacity, probably my highest stress incident involved doing an emergency fret job on Vernon Reid's #1 between a late soundcheck and showtime...backstage. The bench = scrap plywood on drum cases...the lighting= flashlights. It was definitely "Miller Time" after that!
