Speaker ohm / cab question

If I was going to get a 2x12 cabinet is there an ohm rating that could be safely used with either a 4, 8, or 16 ohm amp? I was wondering, for example, if an 8 ohm cab would work with a 4 and/or 16 ohm amp?
