Mark Bass Amps

I am mainly a guitar/keyboard player, but I'm thinking of buying a Bass Amp for small gigs and mainly for home studio use (when not going direct). I've heard some good things about these new Mark Bass Amps. I was wondering if anyone here has tried these and what your thoughts are? Would you agree that a head/cab combination would be best vs a combo? Is there something else I should looking at?

I like the MarkBass stuff, but I would highly advise against ever using them direct to the board. They sound absolutely horrible in that field. The Little Mark 2 is hard to beat if you're looking for a lightweight head with a good tone for $600. I personally like head/cab as opposed to a combo although a combo is more portable.

I run an Avalon U5, Stewart 1.6 power amp and Dr. Bass BL2460 (2 12" w/ 6" tweeter). I can use the U5 and Stewart for my acoustic guitar and keys as well.

I live in Manhattan, have no car, and I needed something very portable. I bought a Little Mark head, the 500 watt one. Works great for me. No need to use direct. Some of the places here have a bass rig you have to use, but for portability this is great - fits in the pocket of my gig bag. Sound is good, solid state sound, with much flexibility.

But its not a SVT or anything like that...

Most Markbass stuff is pretty powerful. For smaller gigs I use a 200 watt SWR combo....

I've heard the best reviews on the LMII and the SA450 heads. I've also heard the cabs are OK, but probably could be better. I've heard good things about the Epiphani UL115 and UL212. Any thoughts?

i have a LMII head. It's fabulous. Fantastic amp. Blows away many boutique amps costing 4x the price. I've used mine direct and it sounds great.
