Tone press robs highs, what else in a compressor

I'm not bonding with my tone press compressor, although it's the best I've tried so far for guitar, but it sort of robs some of the highs and isn't as "snappy" as I'd like, but it does do the infinite clean sustain very well, so I'll probably keep it on the board. But what other compressor does the slamming shimmering chord thing without choking or boxing the sound? I like the clips on the T Rex site for the comp nova. Can anyone who's had one comment on whether they sounded and responded as the web clips make them sound? There's no dealers so I'll have to order it blind.
