Vox AC30 sounding like an 800...or?

So I'm facing a bit of a dilema right now. I've really been digging the sound of JCM 800s lately mostly the 2205 two channels and the 2203 vertical input reissue. I was wondering, what are the best pedals out there to really push the AC30s into some nice ballsy tones? I'm running the combo into an Orange 4x12 with an american tele and a fat strat.

BUT...

I played a great JCM 800 used at GC today. It's one of the single channel 2203, one of the new ones though. I really liked it...should I just stop being a little girl and buy the thing? Or is there a cheaper way to coax this tone out of my Vox? I dunno..am I just being cheap?
