Brian Monty Guitars ?
One of the local shops is currently selling two Brian Monty Guitars.
A Rockmaster I & a Rockmaster II The I is new and the II is used. Both sport P90's and seem incredibly well made. Other than his website there's not a lot of info out there on his guitars, so I was wondering if anyone had any opinions or experiences to share regarding his guitars. Construction info, prices, quality concerns (or lack thereof) etc... It'd be much appreciated. |

I've got Brian bulding me a Seafoam Green and Cream single cut Les Paul Jr. copy right now. I'm halfway through my 3 month wait and I'll give a full report with pics when I have it.
I did a lot of research before putting my money out, PM'd everyone I could find who said they had played a Monty, and talked to him for a while on the phone. Because of all that, I have the utmost faith that I am going to end up with an unbelieveable guitar. Everything I can find points to great necks, excellent workmanship, and well built guitars that should be worth more than the asking price. Last edited by LowWatt; 11-10-2008 at 12:15 PM. |

I am a follower. Brian definitely does not have the publicity he deserves.
He is not good at marketting, but his buillding skills are second to none to say the list! He can build anything from a Jr. like guitar to world class jazz archtop. I played 4 guitars in his shop and all are top class. He is using regularly Voodoo (Florance) pickups, that he says work great in his guitars. What's more to say? He is building me a custom 7 string now and I sold my Conklin Custom Hollow to finace it. Good luck!

I know Brian Monty very well. I consider him a friend. We met a few years ago at the Montreal guitar show. He and I were both working the show. He is a wonderful guy and a real knowledgeable man when it comes to building, restoring or customizing guitars. I played several of his guitars at the show. Archtops, solid body Strat styles, and solid body Les Paul styles ( I don't remember the model #'s). Every guitar that I picked up played really well and had a nice acoustic ring to it. I did not plug any of them in, but am sure they will sound as good as they played.
This year when I went up to do the show again, he did not attend, but he did meet with us and we had dinner together. He is doing some pretty creative things and I would definatley consider buying a guitar from him espicially if you are in Canada. |

This describes it well... when I jammed with Brian at his house, he played a flattop and I played one of his electrics unplugged and the electric could keep up in volume with the mildly played flattop! In fact his electrics sound soo good accoustically, I convinced Brian to put RMC piezo on mine. I am desperate to hear the outcome!
