Pedal Battery question??????

How many of you guys leave the battery's in your pedals while its plugged in to an adapter and is there any harm being done to it.
I tend to only take 1 pedal to gigs so I never plug it into an adapter but while I'm home I just started plugging it in so I don't waste battery's. Should I be removing the battery every time its plugged in?
