Elusive "Duane-Tone"

On the 38th anniversary of the passing of the very inspirational Duane Allman I recorded a little clip in his honor. A couple of years of experimenting with different guitars, amps, speakers and pick-ups have yielded a tone that's a bit Duane-ish and I'm happy with.

So, here 'tis - my heart's in the right place even if my fingers aren't!

Nice!

So you gonna spill the beans on what you're using on this clip?

Yeah, I can hear it!

Is that inspired by the end of "You Don't Love Me"?

is it a LP into a Deluxe Reverb?

Sure - it's my Gibson R7 Darkback goldtop with Throbak PG humbuckers and Callaham bridge through a low-power Tweed Twin clone. The Twin has one 12" Scumback H-55 and one 12" Fender(Cerwin-Vega made)ps-12 with a paper surround - which sounds just like the CV er-123's that Duane used. I've also got one NOS Tong-Sol 12ax7 and one TubeTech 12ax7 and am using a "y" cable to connect the channels - and NOS Tung Sol 5881's.

Yes on "You Don't Love Me"! - I just loved when Duane would do his "a capella" playing on that. That was my inspiration.

I listed the equipment above.

And what's a Duane tribute without a bit of slide?

Thanks, bro. All glories to Brother Duane...
When I think he had played slide for a grand total of like 2-3 years...unreal.

Imagine my surprise when this sounded nothing like Duane Eddy.

Sorry, bro. It's Duane Allman, not All Men Duane!

Keepin' Soul Music alive in a hi-tech climate. That's some culture there. What a blessing!
