Same here. When i first tried the m9 i was quite disappointed about the fairly big toneloss in bypass, even in true-relay-bypass (whatever that exactly means...). At the shop i tried using just one cable straight in the amp first and then the m9 with the second cable: big difference!! I then changed the m9 for some fulltone tb pedal and the tonal difference between those two -in bypass- was quite big as well, in favor of the fulltone! Three days later i bought the m9 anyway for it's convenience and because i couldn't get it out of my mind.

Now, using it with my beloved vovox cable i have the same experience: big difference between m9 and my complete tb pedalboard. I prefer tb over buffered and therefore use cables as short as possible. 10ft vovox cut in two parts, 6ft from guitar to pedals and 4ft from pedals to amp. Works fine in the studio or theater were i work most.

But still, i do love the m9 and use it on my current tour. I'm not sure if the drive department is going to survive after the honeymoon is over, but we'll see about that later.
