So I buy this video off itunes.............

..........and when I play it back, it stops occasionally----freezes the picture, then comes back on after a few seconds.

I'm a full-fledged computer idiot. Any suggestions?

Anything to do with the "firewall", or "fire fox", or some such thing?

I'll of course need someone to define BOTH these items for me.

Thanks.

No. It varies as to where it stops. Usually 3-4 times during the video.

Frustrating, because it's such a cool video.

contact apple support and complain. they will credit you for the video and you try downloading it again. i downloaded some BSG episodes once and one of em had no sound. a quick complaint and they credited me right away

Well, I may do that.

Seems a couple years ago I was having similar issues watching vids on youtube. Like it doesn't fully load and has to stop to finish.

If your watching the movie as it streams, then your download speed or Apple's transmission rate is too slow at the moment. Could be network traffic or something else.

There is a "buffer" downloaded (a certain amount of the movie is queued up) before the movie will start, and that buffer is not being replenished fast enough.

I have an Apple-TV (rent or buy movies from iTunes) and this stop/start problem occurred to me once in two years of flawless rentals. I clicked on the "report a problem" link in my purchase history (in your iTunes account page) and Apple gave me full credit for the movie.

Do you have a broadband connection, and normally get good download speeds with it?

Apple will very likely give you a credit.

Might be your computer... I once bought a movie on iTunes and I know that it downloaded entirely, rather than streamed as I was watching. If that's the case here it probably means your computer's too slow.

160GB.
512MB

Remember-----I'm a computer illiterate. Not sure what "CPU" is, or how you tell the speed of it.

Do you have a Mac or a PC?

If a PC, click on My Computer, then the about or info page.

If you have a Mac, click on the Apple icon then the about this Mac ... mine looks like this:

my CPU or processor is 1.66 GHz, and memory is 2 gig.

on a PC something like this:

ONly 512 meg of RAM (memory) is not much these days. That could be a choking point.
