New recording gear, opinion wanted

Ok so I'm tired of the overly nasal sound of the PXR4 internal microphone. today i bought a SM57 and a ART preamp. I did a quick clip with the Thunderbird amp and the Chapin (bridge (tele) pickup), the Thunderbird has it's inbuilt "dampulator" on step 2 of three (the kids gets violent othervise ) so volume is not that high.

So better than usual?? No Eq or comression, i want to avoid that on clips, if possible.
