Mercury III Harmonic Booster from Spaceman Effects

The new Mercury III Harmonic Booster from Spaceman Effects came in earlier this week and what a pedal it is.

It interacts quite differently to my 2 main amps. With my Marshall AVT50 (tube preamp / solid state power amp), it acts very much like a medium gain crunch pedal where as with my all-tube Fender Hot Rod Deluxe it acts more as a rich boost allowing more of the harmonics to come through and color the tone in a positive way. By tweaking the 6 tone settings and the harmonics control it can be set for a pure clean boost dependant on the guitar / amp combo. This is one of those pedals you can play with for hours with various gear combos experimenting with it's capabilities.

Regardless of the amp, it provides a wonderful foundation for any dirt box stacking combo I can throw at it. Truly a fascinating pedal. This is my first foray into a true boost pedal and so far, so good. I'm pretty much a balls out rhythm player with very little subtlety or finesse so to be honest, I will never get the most out of this pedal but I've found that what it does for my favourite combos is to just make them sound so much better.

Zak from Spaceman has given the OK for the guts shots, you can see this is a complex pedal and is a work of art.

I love the way Zak packages his pedals, lots of cool stuff in there. This pedal is VERY quiet and the indicator lamp on the copper and white editions are genuine NOS NASA equipment. Mine's #1 of 10 from the copper edition. Zak is putting out 30 in white and 80 in brushed metal finish.

I have to invest some dollars into decent recording gear so I can start posting clips.

Uber Cool in a geeky gear kind of way AND I LOVE IT!!!

There are a lot of pedals hyped here which offer far less for the same amount of money...
And you can still get the normal version which offers the same sound quality for 50$ less.

I got mine last week and I love it.
The NASA NOS light is one of the coolest features I've seen on any pedal.
And it is, hands down, one of the most versatile booster available. It does a total clean volume boost as well as a Rangemaster treble boost, an outragous bass boost and some more.

Schweet... thanks for the thoughts! I ordered a copper model and requested "#9" a little while back... can't wait to get it...
