If you had to pick one acoustic to last the rest of your life...

...what would it be and why?

My '97 Taylor 420 dreadnought. Made when Taylor was churning out their best work. One of the earlier satin finish guitars, BIG expansive tone. Sounds great unplugged, but with a Fishman active matrix piezo and a Fishman Prefix mixer/DI it sounds great in the house. I don't even look at other acoustic guitars anymore.

My Martin D-18GE. Great tone, string articulation. Bass, mids, highs, all are where my ear tells me they should be. Love the vee-neck and the wider fretboard for the fingerstyle blues I play, and sounds phenomenal when strummed, too. I have other fine guitars, but the D-18GE is my favorite.

I guess it would be 34/35 Gibson l-00 or Collings C-10 dlx. The C-10 is real close to the L-00 and I think it would obviously holdup longer. I love both of them. The Collings C10 DLX is THE acoustic for me but it's because it is so much like the old L-00s. I tend to baby it though

I can't do it man. Love my Gibson, Martin and 12-String Guild. Can't I take all 3?

My 1974 Guild D25. All-mahogany, arched-back. Huge, distinctive, fat tone; absolutely reliable (in all this time I have replaced the tuners once, never needed to do anything else, and never even had to adjust the neck). This exact combination of features was only made for a year or so. I am the envy of other, better players with lesser instruments.

The Guild GAD25 i recently bought. I have only had it a short time, but i have never been more sure this is the best acoustic i've owned and the only one that has ever met every expectation, and when new no less. (never played or owned an new acoustic till now that didn't sound new at any price) Not only is this the one i would pick for life, i DID pick it for life. This is THE keeper w/o the shadow of a doubt. Of course for me at my age thats not nearly as tough a call as it would be for most of you kiddies.

I have some lovely acoustics, old J45's, 50's Guild F-50 Braz RW, Kevin Ryan Mission Concert, Martin Braz RW D-21, but I really only play my Martin Eric Johnson Sig MC-40 model. Only 90 made ( if that ) but Martin got a lot right with this model.

Pre-war/war-time D-18 or mid 30's J-35. Two of my faves.
