must-see guitar shops in San Diego

I'm in san diego today and tomorrow. Staying in the gaslamp district but taking the kids to sea world part of today and heading to carlsbad to bum around tomorrow. Any guitar shops I should see while in this area?

Yes. Centre City Music off of 6th and Grant. Right about where you're staying. Saul, the proprietor, is an authorized Gibson dealer and is well-regarded for the business he's done. Pay him a visit. Word of caution though --you may leave with a Historic where the deal was so good you just couldn't say no.

Usually he has a pretty impressive inventory. He moves gear fast though so occasionally his walls will be bare while he awaits his next shipment. Get there today before 4:00. He'll be closed tomorrow.

Guitar Center in La Mesa is like pretty much every other GC in the country. There's a stretch of a few smaller, independent stores off of El Cajon. Again, many might be closed tomorrow.

If you like acoustics it is worth checking out old time in North Park.

I was in Saul's last week and it was BARE. The were waiting on a fair amount of stock but have had a hard time getting inventory. It is worth stopping by if you are a Gibson lover.

Freedom in the College area generally has a good selection on overpriced vintage amps.

Yep, make sure you drop in and see Saul. If he has a full wall you may be there all day.
