My college diploma is on the dresser next to my bed. I use it as proof I graduated high school.

Thumbs up Same as Matt

I have a college degree so don't need to show proof of high school?

(But it is in the fireproof box with our other important papers)

Hate to be paranoid, but could this be a way of asking your age without asking your age?

You can graduate college at any age, but most people graduate high school at 18 (give or take a year) . . . so, diploma says 1969 . . . let me work my magic with the slide rule here . . . that makes you . . .

Hmm . . .

I know where it is. It's with my college diploma in the attic. But I can't imagine anyone actually wanting to physically see either of them. Doesn't your prospective employer have a phone or computer to contact them for verification?

If a prospective employer asked that of me, I would ask them for their Federal ID#, a copy of their state certificate of authority to collect sales tax, copies of their last 5 years Federal income tax returns and 5 credit references.....

Mine's in a pile of Katrina junk; I don't think we could get the thing open. It is basically toast; I keep it because if I was cornered, I could show somebody what became of it.

Really? It's pretty common to ask for it. Literally, every job I have ever had I have had to provide a copy of my high school diploma. Strange that people are making a big deal about it. They want to see that you finished high school....what's the problem? You know people lie in job interviews, right?

Hey, for all those of you who were worried about me: My wife just found my diploma in the back room while she was cleaning off a shelf.....just about four months after I posted the poll.
