Any experience with studio treatment packages?
I need to treat a 10.5x11 ft room. I don't want to make my own panels. I'm looking for pre-made stuff. I was looking at this:
http://www.primacoustic.com/london12.htm I'm open to suggestions.

You don't mention what you are wanting to do (recording, mixing, rehearsal, etc) so I'll assume recording and mixing. Here's what came to my mind when I looked at your post and that page:
1) That's not enough bass trapping. Well, that's enough bass trapping for someone who has never had a treated room before but not nearly enough for someone who understands acoustics and the effect that bass has in a room 2) Do you need diffusion? The answer is usually "If you have a big room, it definitely helps. If you have a small room, it's probably a waste of money." 3) What size is the room? 4) How "great" do you want your room? Primacoustic is a good company IMO and that's a good, generic package for someone who doesn't really know what they want, and who doesn't have the time to learn acoustics before getting started. I can say that, if you bought a kit like that and applied it as listed, you could definitely add additional bass trapping to it and ultimately end up with a great setup. |

It looks Ok for your room size. Covers most the basics-not sure how well.
Also look at GIK and Auralex packages and compare prices. 4" thick panels work better than 2" thick panels-more linear in absorption vs frequency curve. If you do too much just 2" in a room you suck out a narrow band and it sounds weird. Also should consider that the live end part of live end dead end should be more diffusion than absorption. Loaded book cases work well for storage and diffusion. |

Thanks for the info guys.
The room will be used for mixing. Never heard of GIK....I'll check them out.
