I'm a big fan of the Line 6 studio 110s. I own a couple of them & have one in my living room now for practice. A customer of mine just bought one to use with a gospel group, he installed a fixture that allows him to mount it on a PA stand; he uses it as a monitor & sends a signal out to the PA.

Nobody has mentioned the Hartke Kickback amps. I have owned several, the 12" model is my favorite (all of the heads are the same, they differ only in speaker size). I'm not a huge fan of aluminum cone speakers (I like a warmer sound), but they do sound really nice.

I've used them as bench amps for years, have gigged with them as well (again, running into the PA). I used one back when I worked at Gruhn's... All of the sales guys would come up & use it when they had a serious bass customer. Plenty of power (120 watts) & cheap on the used market (I just picked up another one last week for $100... Almost new). A good amp for the money

You might also check out the Ampeg BA112. Similar to the BA 115 but smaller and lighter. 50 watts, single 12". I have used mine for smaller gigs no problem.

I have a Hartke Kickback 12 that is really nice. The aluminum speaker sounds great. Awesome punch.

I've heard good things about the L6 Studio 110, but haven't had any experience myself.

I recently rigged up something that I really enjoy. I had an Ashdown After Eight that I had really grown to despise for being so damn noisy and not very good sounding. I pulled the speaker wires from the amp and connected them to a jack I mounted in the amp enclosure and am running a Valve Jr. into that. I really like the way it sounds and it is very versatile. I can run keys and guitar into it if I have proper EQ between the instrument and the amp with good sounding results. It comes in at just the right volume to irritate my family but not enrage them and the sound doesn't travel much further than my garage. Not real heavy on the super low end, but it sounds like bass and actually records pretty well in that small space.
