The gear gets to be white noise. So I'll ignore it for weeks on end, then I'll find something that will help my music like a guitar or a pedal or whatever and get into it again. AFter that I try to focus on the playing the music. Easy to get wrapped up in and overwhelmed with gear minutae. This guy I bought this guitar from had changed the caps, the pickup rings, the pickups, the tone and volume knobs, the pickup selector switch - I'm just surprised anybody CARES about half this stuff. But that can be the nature of this hobby, you can spend a lot of time and money not only on the gear, but on TWEAKING your gear.

Those and a few CS Fenders and I've arrived.

Kind of a realization of everything I ever wanted as a guitar playing kid while I grew up.

Its fatter, but not so much that it bothers me at all. Loving the guitar, the more I play it and get used to the tone, the more I dig it. I may just leave those Wiz PAF clones in there, they sound pretty friggin good. Hey, the guy that sold it to me is like the Mother of all LP Cork Sniffers, he really knows his stuff on these, if he liked some obscure third party PAF clone from friggin Croatia of all places, there's something to it.

I don't know boys, there may be some dog LP Historics out there, but I haven't played or owned one yet. Great guitars.

Yeah, my 12 year old Fender Custom Shop Strat really does rock, quackified Strat tone (noiseless single coils too, they're silent), amazing quality, the guitar has never even needed a neck adjustment in 12 years. Love the guitar.

I would keep it as is, at least for a while while you get used to it and maybe do some minor adjustments to your personal tastes.

That's the plan. Every time I play it I dig it more, that means I'll probably wind up leaving it alone. GREAT guitars man. They never disappoint. They are worth the dough.

You know, I have put my R6 up for sale about 3 times since I've had it. Luckily, it doesn't have a COA, or I would have probably sold it by now. The only reason it goes up for sale is because I HAVE to sell one of the few guitars I have worth considerable money to get another similar guitar, not that I don't think it is fantastic. It's also just over 9lbs, and everyone wants that elusive 8lb Les Paul, regardless of what they actually sound like. Anyways, the point I'm getting at, is that I believe things happen for a reason, and this guitar is saying "You need to hold onto me, buddy, or you are gonna regret it!!!"

Yeah matt, you got that right brother, they are the shit. I love a nice PRS, those are also $3k-$5K guitars on the higher end, but the Historics are right there in quality in that higher cork sniffing price range, they do deliver in their own very special way.

After five days and a few hours on the R8, I'm loving the guitar. 90% of the mojo of the R0, on a guitar that feels like half the weight : ). I go to the R0 when I feel like, to paraphrase Nigel, push it over the ciff tonewise : ). But they both just sing. Those Wiz pickups are very good indeed. Still curious what that guitar might sound like.

I'll sell my LP Standard Plus, that has Fralin Pure PAF zebras, I'll swap those out for the stock Burstbuckers before I sell the guitar, so I'll have the Fralins and I may eventually try those out in the R8.

Tonight I was playing my Strat through an overdriven Egnater, love the Clapton quack, love the feel of the guitar, love the whammy bar, but for overdriven blues, for my ears, those guitars can't deliver the fat tone of a kick ass humbucker guitar like a Historic. They seem better suited to clean playing where you can appreciate the nuances of that beautiful Strat tone.
