I have an Orville Les Paul Standard that I've relic'd a bit - it has the Jimmy Page wiring setup so it'll do everything I 'need' if I had to! She'll go to the grave with me... .

I don't own one, but I think I'd go with a custom Tele featuring a Strat middle and mini-HB neck. I plan on getting a new body for my MIJ Tele (great neck, bunch of upgraded hardware and electronics, everything except for the BASSWOOD body.. ach on the tone)... hope I make the right call, but I have a feeling an ash body w/mini-HB and nashville routing will be great.

It would cover almost all grounds for me besides a tremolo, but I prefer the ability to alternate tune.

1993 PRS EG with 2 HFS humbuckers and a Lindy Fralin single in the middle position. There's nothing it can't do!

Custom ... warmoth, USACG, fender custom shop ... whatever.
  • locking tuners
  • Large CBS headstock (painted red to more or less match pickguard) with bullet truss rod end
  • Black Tusq nut
  • One Piece baked maple neck w/ stainless steel frets and 9.5-12 fingerboard radius
  • Dimarzio - VV 54 pro in the neck, Area '67 in the middle, and a Chopper in the bridge
  • Callaham bridge with some kind of cast steel saddles ... I don't like stamped
  • 1 volume, Les Paul toggle for neck and middle pickups wired to a 3-way blade switch with the bridge pickup so that I have access to 7 pickup combinations (It's kind of a rhythm/lead circuit thing that I've been doing lately)
  • red mirror pickguard
  • Mahogany body with a thick ash top with a trans black finish.
  • Dunlop Dual Design Strap Locks
The first guitar I ever bought (It's still my #1) is spec'd the same as above 'cept for the bolded stuff. Most of the changes I've listed are either aesthetics or to make the guitar just a bit more versatile.

Would end up looking kinda like this, except the virtual guitar below has a vintage tint maple neck instead of the baked maple.
