AmpKit vs. Newer Line6 stuff
I'm floored by AmpKit. I've never been floored by modeling stuff. I enjoy moving the different amps and cabs around in the app and so on. How good is the newer Line6 stuff? Does it give you the crazy cab selection and so on? Does it sound better in headphones? If I don't want to spend axe fx money but where do I go to get better than AmpKit?

The AmpKit is indeed a very nice surprise soundwise. I use it with the Peavey AmpKit interface, I'd really like to give it a try with the Apogee Jam.
Overall I'd say the HD500 sounds better, mostly on the effects part and clean/crunch amps. For heavier stuff both are actually on a similar scale. But the Line6 stuff offers much more possibilities the AmpKit doesn't, mainly for a live usage. The AmpKit really has a crazy price/quality ratio. If you just use it for practicing at home with simple presets, I don't think you need something else, I mean you'll have to spend at least $200 in not-such-a-big upgrade. It's my "portable night rig" for now. If you want a real step further give a look at the 11 Rack.

Awesome. Just what I was looking for. I was thinking that the 11 Rack would be that next step before the Axe Fx. Thanks Bakachan!
Anyone think that its just better to try and find a used Axe Fx standard or ultra? |

Ampkit is great. I'm going to buy the Ampkit Link HD when it comes out because the cheap Ampkit Link that I currently have can be a pain sometimes.
