Okay, now pull the six pairs of gym socks out of the sound hole and let's record her one more time.

I get the OP's point, it's hard to evaluate the snap criticisms without more elaboration or clarification. But this is the Internet and that tends to be the way a lot of people respond in forums like this.

I can't second guess anything about the OP. But there are a lot of snarky appearing responses. I say appearing because people tend to post short, quick responses to things like this for a lot of reasons. There certainly are plenty of drive-by curmudgeons that seem to want to belittle anybody new or perceived as less informed or experienced. Sadly, this medium forces us to leave out a lot of things that help clarify intent in communication and that always makes it a little harder to keep discussions focused or on point.

At least we got this far without some wiseass jumping in with, "Tone is in the fingers!" Oh, yeah, let me show you some tone right here. ..!.,

For myself, I didn't post until after the flouncing exit, specifically because of the OP's request. Still, what can one expect? The OP noted a 40+ page thread on the Collings forum, and a number of those folks seriously know their stuff, and are more acoustic oriented than most folks here. Why would one expect a different answer? The product & its promotions are a veritable laundry list of snake-oil balderdash. To show one's desire to believe is such fllm flam is to show that one is credulous at best.

Also, that exit -- not bad, but, no, it couldn't hold a candle to Hawk's masterful performance.

No intent to belittle the OP. The process, the presentation, the whole rap is bullshit.
Requiring an explanation beyond "bullshit" for this bullshit is bullshit.
Any short, negative reply to this thread is the correct response.
The perpetrators of this hoax have folded up their tents and disappeared into the night with as much of some poor bastard's cash as they could.
What more do you need?

Lose weight without exercise or changing your diet.
Master the guitar in 30 days.
Earn $2000 a week working from home.
Learn the secret of making beautiful women desire you.
Owe the taxman $15K or more? Find out how you can pay much less than you owe.
Buy this genuine Rolex watch for only $150.00.
Get the amazing new lure and catch more lunker bass. Guaranteed.

What do these offers all have in common? They're designed to get money out of credulous people.

Age your guitar 75 years, my ass. Maybe when the OP gets over his pout he'll look up what "Alchemy" really means. Hint: it was a "science" dedicated to transmutation of base metals into gold, and the scammers who practiced it often staged elaborate demonstrations in which sleight-of-hand made it appear that they were succeeding. Ultimately, of course, it was about on a level with all the other get rich quick schemes-- making money based on the tried and true proposition that greed numbs the mind.

If some people here gave short shrift to this latest in the stream of miracle cures being offered to guitar players, it's because there've been plenty along this line over the years. And in my experience (I'm not on the Collings forum or anything, but I've been playing the same two Collings guitars since the mid 1990s) they're all much the same. Can you say "hogwash"?

^^^The lure sometimes works. LOL

A 75yr old acoustic needs a shitload of work done. Leave mine be.

I have some very nice acoustics, you know what? They sounded great the day I bought them, and they sound great now. My Guild is 25yrs old and I'm sure it sounds somewhat different, but nothing I'd want to pay extra for, mainly because it sounded great in '86, '96, '06....

Read the actual patent application in this link: http://www.google.com/patents/US8134...page&q&f=false

It appears to be an over-priced Tonerite treatment.

I read the entire post and agree with most...this is snake oil

I agree with the others that Play your guitar...thats what makes it sound better. Or better yet, buy one you like and sounds good and it will get better with time. Everyone wants something without effort.

I bet that it does something - but I doubt very much that it would be a thousand dollars better. Sounds to me like a gimmick that might squeeze another 2% of tone out of your guitar.
