Best distortion pedal for bass

Hello, I'm currently using a Rat on my 4 string Ibanez and I was wondering if there was anything better suited to bass guitar out there. Whether it be a Muff, Rat, or anything.

There are dozens of great Bass o/d, distortion, and fuzz pedals. But, it's like buying shoes. You've got to try them all on to know what you'll like best. I like the TRex Bass Juice, but also EBS Valve drive, Fulltone OCD, Xotic Bass BB, and the list goes on.

If you like a bit o' fuzzy gain, I would suggest the James Lomenzo Hyper drive by Ashdown.

The key to a great distortion tone is having your clean signal mixed in. Most bass OD's won't give you that option. Nothing worse than a bass with no bass tone!

The Darkglass BK3 is the current darling over at TalkBass. I must confess that I am very eager to try one out. All the demos/clips I have heard have been outstanding.

I use a bass-tuned RAT varient (Rat tail by Fuzzrocioius).
Also mulitple other pedals for several flavors of OD and Fuzz.

Dirty bass can be a wonderful thing.

The Empress Multidrive is working out to be the ultimate Bass Distortion/Overdrive for me.

Whoah!!!
That multi-drive is aptly named! 5 toggles, 10 knobs and 2 foot switches! Bet there are a lot of great tones in that box.
Not ideal for the "set-n-forget" kinda guy...

I've got a very nice clone by Viva Analog of the fuzzsection from the Acoustic 360 bass amp that sounds great on bass. Overlays a kinda fuzzy texture on the dry bass signal so you don't lose all the bottom end, but get some nice dirt mixed in. Listen to Jaco, Larry Graham, or John Paul Jones.

If you like muffy bass tones, the Colorsound Jumbo Tone Bender is great on bass.

I've had a lot of success using my Vintage RAT pedal -- I had it laying around my studio one day (not on my normal pedal board) and thought "Hey! I should try using this with my bass." It worked really well once I dialed back some of the gain.

I just recorded some bass tracks. Tried an EP Booster, a Big Muff, a Boss ODB-3, and a Tubescreamer. Ended up going with the Tubescreamer. It did cut some low end though.
