Just got this:

2008, all mahogany, translucent orange, 7lbs, Brazilian fretboard, with Fralin Unbuckers.

Awesome guitar.

that looks amaaaazing! Did you get it new? Where did it come from. When the time comes for an EJ with G90's for me, I wil consider that color scheme! Very cool!

It's a 2008 that belonged to a collector- It looks 'newer' than new guitars I've bought. Large roundback neck and big frets (6100) make it a tone machine. Just a really well built and toneful guitar.

My EJ w/ESonics does not sound thin at all. Full-bodied and throaty would be another description.
By sonic spread, I mean that the individual strings seem to have a wider aural overlap than anything else I've tried, if that makes any sense. Very organic. Jangly? Yes, with the volume knob down some. Hotter and fatter when full-on.
Niche? I think they are too new at this time to label, predict, or forecast how they will be judged 10 years from now. Right now, yes, as very few people have them. I was going to order P-90s in mine, until I heard a new pickup design was available. Since I already have my share of P-90s, hums, and trad single coil guitars, I thought something new would be or could be right up my alley.
I salute Don and his crew for actually raising the bar once again. A new pickup design isn't a very common event in the world of electric guitar.

Nice! My EJ is still my #1 too... Most comfortable guitar I've owned. Just feels natural in the hands...
