I don't care where the parts from an amp came from. if it's good it's good. i want one of these RR1's.
Mounting it in that tweed cab is a great idea too. Keep things interesting! |

Sure
You wanna buy one? We are finishing our power amp project and then the RR1 will go back in full production. Shouldn't be long.

Actually, Mouser lists country of origin online and on the packages they send you for each individual part. At least in my experience.

And your point is?
Are you trying to assert that I should be building my gear in Texas or should I be spending all my time researching every resistors origin? This whole line of thinking is a little skewed. I wish we lived in a World whereby everything in America was not made in China... We can only do the best that we can. My kid bought a printer the other day. It died. The store replaced it and I am sure they sent the other one back to the manufacturer who spanked their Chinese factory. WE do the best we can with what we have to build a quality product in Austin. I watch over the production. Can I be sure that a screw or resistor is not made in Taiwan, or India for that matter? No... Do you have a right to assert that I should? I think not.

Most everything is now made in China, or Mexico, or Korea etc. It's the production control that makes a product a quality product, I know this since I worked for a broadcast equipment manufacturer in the 80's and part of the 90's. I took Production control classes to improve the quality in my department. I mostly ran the wave solder machines at Grass Valley Group. But was involved in various areas of production and inspection. If quality standards are followed at a high level, the end result is a quality product. You know solder is one of the most important elements of any electronic circuit. If there are impurities or imbalance of metals (Metallurgy), it can and will affect the quality of the circuit, cold solder joint etc. We did solder samples regularly to keep up the quality and it made a huge impact on quality and even made such an improvement to the quality of the solder-ability that it made the job easier for the final assembly, less touch-up etc., saving company time and MONEY and making a better product from the beginning. We purchased parts that wre made in the U.S.A., Mexico, Japan, where ever, it's not the country it was made in as much as the quality of production control. Look at the PRS Korean guitars, some Korean/Ibanez guitars... My point is so what is a screw is made in Bumfuct Egypt, as long as it is of good quality and holds up in use, it's the overall quality of the product that is most important. I just finished totally rebuilding a Fender HRD into #124 Dumble* clone, and trying to keep the cost reasonable, I did not use Chinese transformers, I went with Magnetic Components (A U.S.A. transformer manufacturer), of good quality, we almost went with Mercury Magnetics, but the price was out of the question for this build. I also used Alpha and CTS pots. Here is where I was questioned about my quality of work and it pissed me off! A friend of the owner heard I was using the Alpha and CTS, he said, " those are crap!" I know a lot of people use them, in fact Randall Aiken of Aiken Amplification said he used to use the expensive sealed brand f pots, thinking they will last the life of the amp, but after those amps were in the field for 10 years, people were sending them in for replacement, because they were getting noisy. Randall said, that he found that for the money spent, the less expensive Alpha can at least be taken apart to service and cleaned and last just as long. The threads where the nut that secures them to the chassis may be a little more prone to stripping, so just don't over torque them. I have seen a lot of Dumble, and other Boutique amps use Alpha or similar pots with good results. What ever works and that the attention of quality is most important. I think Lance stands behind an excellent product, besides his name is riding along side it ;^) |

it strange for people bashing this product and never ever really tried it in person.
I did played it in person because i walked in with a very skeptical view on how a solid state will always sounds crap. boy i was wrong. and lance was nice enough to just let me play with the amp for an hour. if only i have the extra cash to buy one in the future. sigh. |
