The Deltas are useful up to around 4kHz or so, and they have a strong midrange. Using the Deltas with my Axe-Fx, I kept having to scoop 1.5kHz and boost 4.5kHz to get it to sound right to my ears.

I've tried some used EVM12Ls from ebay, the ones that came before the reissue and Black Label, and they are a bit less "sterile" sounding than the new ones. I don't know if it's because they've been broken in, reconed, aged, or if the older design is slightly different. If price is a concern, you can go the used route. Just make sure there's nothing sketchy about it.
Thanks again...it's a bit disappointing that the 7kHz claim isn't exactly true, but they still seem like fantastic speakers, so they'll definitely be at the top of the list when I start trying to build my rig in the short future!

IMO you might as well turn cab-sim off and use a nice versatile speaker/cab combo like a g12h30 based open back cab. you won't have quite the versatility of a neutral speaker (or FRFR) setup, but you'll still have options from changing virtual amps and you'll definitely have a more live sounding tone.

The EVM 12L has a 100dB sensitivity. Which is why it is fast response. By contrast a Greenback is 96dB. The Celestion Vintage 30, G12H Anniversary also have a 100dB sensitivity. I have the now discontinued Celestion Century in my Power Engine which has a 102dB sensitivity.

The advantage the EV has is that massive magnet and 300 watt power handling. The trade off is the added weight and EV's are pretty stiff sounding (or responding)speakers in a normal guitar application. That's not really an issue when used for modeling or with our SansAmp products.

While most Celestions start their high end roll off around 5k the EV starts around 5K but has a little shelf around 7k then continues to roll off from there. It's not a flat speaker. Neutral? It's neutral in the respect that it's very difficult to make that speaker distort vs say the Celestion V30, etc. It's still The enclosure that the speaker is in will always impart its own tone. An EV in a Thiele cab will sound different in an open back cab and different still in a closed back cab.

You can't restore what is not there. Most speaker sims in modelers already have the roll off built in. They are modeling guitar speakers that have a high end roll off. You should be more concerned about whether or not your speakers are "distorting" when using a modeler.

I have heard good things about the Beyma 12GA50 loudspeaker.
"Designed to be a full range speaker for guitar and bass".
http://www.usspeaker.com/Beyma%2012GA50-1.htm
Anyone here use them?

I have some Celestion G12 Century 80w, 102dB, neodymium speakers.
They are very loud and weigh half of a normal speaker.
Great fast attack and not too coloured (not full range).
Much better than the new century vintage 60w, imo.
