I generally don't like Teles and I played an American Delixd last week and loved it.

shane88, the problem is, I hate trying stuff out at GC. It's too loud, you can't hear anything, and nothing sounds the same as when your at home. Not to mention I would have to drag all gear down to see how it sounds through my rig. Really the only way to try a standard is to buy one and return it if I don't like it, but I don't have the cash flow to buy one without selling my deluxe. I think I'm just gonna pull the trigger and get one. If worse comes to worse, I can return the standard and get a guitar I know I'll love like a tele with humbuckers or an SG.

Topdog, no I don't think so. I think mine is a early 2000's model that were made before the compound radius's.

voxylady - the American Deluxes with the sumarium cobalt pickups were made between 2004 (some in late 2003 so they could be shipped immediately after their introduction in January 2004) through the end of 2009. You're correct that these predate the compound radius necks; that started with the 2010-spec models (although the first runs of these have 2009 serial numbers - again these were built so they could be shipped immediately after their introduction in March 2010). The ones with compound radius necks will also have the "N3" pickups.

Check the serial number; that will give you an approximate date of production - they should start with the letters "DZ"; then the first digit is the year in the decade - so "DZ4xxxxxx" would be "2004", etc.
