Female -to- Female Cable Coupler Question
Trying to extend a speaker cable w/ male end. Does it matter if the coupler is stereo v. Mono? Is any mfg better/worse than the other? Or is Rat Shack version ok?

It doesn't matter if the coupler is mono or stereo. However, some couplers might only be able to handle and instrument level load, not a speaker load. If your absolutely need to use a coupler, I would recommend you use an all-metal one instead of the plastic housed ones just to be safe.
Alternatively, I wouldn't even bother with couplers but use a longer speaker cable instead. That would be the safest bet. |

I used a coupler until my female one end/male other end 3 ft speaker cord was made up (Lavecable). I know the coupler I used was mono, but never thought about the load thingy. It worked fine

Anything like a coupler is just another weak link that can break or pull apart when you don't want it to. I'd either spring for a piece of longer cable and use the plugs that I already have, or just buy a new longer cable all built up.

Use a mono coupler all the time. It makes it easy switching between cabs and heads while keeping cable length at a minimum.
