Warming Up for Gig - First Grade Show and Tell

My six-year old daughter wanted to bring ME for her show and tell today, so I figured I better accessorize, since plain old Dad isn't very interesting to a bunch of first graders.

Enter the Gretsch Silver Jet ("yeah Daddy, bring the silver sparkly one, it's my favorite") and '69 Vibro Champ. I've got a killer cover of Jingle Bells worked up. ;-)

Wish me luck. Could be a tough room.

One of the best gigs I ever did was way back in the late 70s when we agreed to play for a bunch of grade school kids. We went all acoustic and the drummer used small bongos. Played softer numbers by Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Styx, Triumph, The Beatles, etc.

Kids ate it up!

Enjoy!

I think you should jump on top of the desks, and do a ripping solo, a la eddie van halen.

Good times... enjoy it while it lasts. My 14 year old would go cardiac if I showed up at her school.

Good on you Dad!

At my son's urging, I took the ol' D-28 in to his Kindergarten class many, many moons ago for Parent's Day.

We rocked out on some Christmas Carols, but the biggest hit of all was the Scooby Doo theme song. We had a rousing, extended version going, and before I knew it, the class next door ran in and joined us for the last couple choruses. What a hoot!
