Eminence Red White & Blues
Good, bad, ugly?
I just put one in my VVT Lindy Fralin combo amp.......which is a 2x6L6 BF Fender inspired amp. Won't be able to fire it up for a couple of days, though. What common speaker type does the RW&B compare to?

Not sure what it compares to but I have one in my Allen Accomplice 1x12 combo and think it's perfect for that amp. I believe David Allen still uses it standard on that amp. It's warm and neutral to my ears. Great for BF Fenders as it balances out the highs on those amps. Both of mine (had one in an iso cab too) had a little cone cry out of the box, but after 24 hours on the Variac, they both opened up, smoothed out and completely lost the cone cry. BIG difference before/after break-in.

I'm not crazy about that speaker. Sounds dark and dull to me. Maybe a good fit for a really bright amp.

Depends on the amp. I've had great success using it with EL84 based amps.

My experience is they do real well in BF/SF Fenders.
They can be a great fit in any amp......just depends on whose ears are listening. Best |

I have the one that came in my new-to-me Carr Slant 6V - a 4X6V6, 40watt full power, very Fender style clean first channel and a more Marshall-y OD second channel - it's an amazing speaker in that amp - one very seasoned pro friend said that the amp sounded like a "real sweet Twin but a 1X12 that didn't break your back" - he's right and he played Twins for years. At least in my experience a very good match to Fender blackface voiced amps.

I really like the RW& blues & Texas Heat mix in my Pro Reverb. Very nice! Tomo

Oddly Andy Fuchs uses them as standard in his "casino" combos, which have a Marshall/Trainwreck flavor. I say "oddly" as the rep for this speaker is that its for blackface amps. Nonetheless it sounds great in my Lucky 7.

The RWB has more mids and is a little on the dark side. Personally, I like them for taming the highs on some amps. But I wouldn't want one in a Fender. But that's just my opinion.
