Classic 50... Fane-like speakers?
Just picked up a Classic 50 and I never really cared for the blue marvels. I was wondering what Fane type speaker would sound like in it. I dig Gilmour's huge sound and I find these amps great for that sort of thing. Any ideas? And who makes some of the better Fane clones?

Weber has some Fane like speakers. I've never tried them. I have Fanes in an old Hiwatt cab thay sound great in that cab but in a combo or with the back open thay sound like ass to me. Don't know what model these are it's a 1974 cab and the speakers have pressed steal frames.

I had an old classic 50 and put 2 Eminence Red Fang's in it, the old 30 watters, Sounded killer, best speakers I ever tried in that amp...

My Peavey Classic 30 sounded great on the distortion side with a Mesa closed back cab with Vintage 30's, a WGS Green Beret loaded 2x12 closed back Avatar cab, and I'm sure it would sound good with Fanes or the G12K100 I have in a 3/4 closed back cab. I got tired of trying different speakers in the combo, it just never compared to the girth a good closed back cab with decent speakers in it has.
