Glendale Chimemasters

Well, I just found out about these cool bridges and was just getting ready to find out where to get one when I found out they're out of production. I've checked around on eBay and couldn't find anything.

So.. does anyone else make something like this?

I think the fact that he's not making them (as well as a bunch of his other parts) says something about their popularity.

I have a couple of his more "special" bits and feel like maybe I was one of a tiny handful of buyers.

Too bad, I thought they were cool, but then again I didn't buy one either.

I believe Mr Matte Henderson bought out the remaining stock and I was under the impression that its being revamped.

I've got 1 of the original version and 2 of the second version.

Had I been designing it from scratch, I'd have moved the locations of the through holes and the holes through the block as far aft as possible. I think the break angle of the string below the saddle is too steep ( maybe a set of Rutters slotted chromed saddles would outperform the 1/4 in. dia. slants Dale put on there also. ) As it is, you can only elevate the saddles just so far and the hard core Tele/Esquire country guys cannot get their fingers under the strings to really pop them. Push the through holes and the holes through the block as far down as you can and it creates and opportunity to raise the saddles much higher.

The Rutters design saddles would keep the strings aligned as you tension and detension the strings. I was treating the 2nd style version (very robust arm design) like a Bigsby because I wanted to keep the strings from drifting on the smooth, slanted barrels.

But does anyone else currently make anything similar to the Chimemaster?

I don't think anyone currently makes anything similar...

If you're really desperate, you may want to try Michael Slotboom at Armadillo Guitar Works in Texas. He's done lots of custom stuff and may be able to help.

Buy as good a brass block as you can find.

Do a "Bubba Mod", drilling 3 new holes in the back edge of the stock bridge plate, 9/64ths inches and spaced the same as the holes on an AV52 Tele plate. Install a set of Tele barrel saddles from Marc Rutters, with eccentric slots and chrome plating. You'll have the most of it.

I have one

I have one I never used. I got it for a project that never saw the light of day. Nice looking piece of work but I cant say how it sounds.

Call Glendale and ask, they made a few parts for me that they don't have listed for sale when I asked. They really went out of there way to help me out.
