What exactly does R1/R7/R8/R-whatever mean?
I know it might be a "duh" sort of question/answer, but I'm not really up to par on the jargon used for these guitars on this website yet, as I've only recently started posting here despite being a member since last year. I know they refer to Les Pauls, but that's it. Can you guys tell me what it means? Thanks in advance.

OK, so since this is the dumb question thread, what is NGD? New guitar deal?

But now it makes sense. But Gibson doesn't use those denotations do they? Is that just user slang for those models? Are those the Historic models?

Gibson doesn't officially use the Rx denotations, and called these models "Gibson Les Paul Historic 19XX Reissue" or something to that effect.
