CMF's! I used to work for a Fire Dept. that had the contract for Rescue Standby for a national raceway in Northern CA. On Wednesdays, they had Cart Racing, and I'd sit in an Ambulance and wait for some crazy Cart Driver to pile into the K-Rail, each other, or some obstruction if they slid off the track.

Averaging speeds of 80-100 mph when they crashed, it was common to see the racers with multiple Leg Fractures, Hip and Pelvic Fractures, broken ankles, smashed feet and multiple Internal Injuries. Most of the time I had to call for a Medivac Helicopter to fly the crash victims out because they would have definitely died due to extended ground transport times.

I finally got sick of watching these guys turning themselves into jello, and stopped signing up for the overtime work at the track....for the exception of NASCAR, where they rarely got injured on a Road Course. The fastest they could average was 70-75 mph ( except on the two short straight aways), and those cars were really safe, unlike thee carts where their body was so unproteected.

And the Motorcycle Racers.....don't even get me started!!

I gather that's the sort of kart racing all the F1 guys did when they were kids...seems they all came up that way.

I've had 2 125 shifters and a 250 shifter. The 250 was way too fast. Only ran it once and sold it. I'm not sure what these were. Probably 125's.

Another extremely fast kart. This thing looks like a 1000cc bike engine or something mounted on it.

What a great sounding motor. I can see how a guy could get hooked on that.....too dangerous for me though!

Pretty cool!
How do these races work? I'm curious how they get the public to stay off the street to have the event

Interesting, what's up with the shifters? Auto clutch or a hand rig? Didn't see a foot clutch in the vid. BTW, 125cc...just how fast we talking here?

Clutch just to get it moving then you powershift it up/down with a lever just on the other side of the steering wheel.

A 125 shifter will run a mid 11 second quarter mile. They are pretty fast. The stop faster than anything ever made and the only thing that will pull more "g's" in a turn is a Formula One car.

The video of the guy with the super bike motor is stupid crazy stuff. Not needed or safe in any way and Karts are already dangerous enough. Notice how slow he's going. He's scared to death.
