Anyone install an external bias trim pot?

I'm thinking about removing the bias trim pot in my JCM800 and installing an external pot. I was thinking about a 10 turn wirewound pot so that I can be accurate and don't have to worry about throwing everything off if I bump it.

I'll discharge the caps for this one.

Need a 22k linear 100 volt wirewound pot at least 1/4 watt .. any suggestions?

Will measure the old pot so the new pot is close when installed.

Anything else I need to know?

I suggest leaving it stock---- external bias pots are a poor idea---- someone is going to think it's a "tone knob" and turn it to "where it sounds the best"---i know some players get excited about being able to set the bias of their amp's output tubes themselves but i think too much is made of a basic (and necessary----necessary to do it right) adjustment................gldtp99

I build (in my limited spare time) and sell (a few) tube guitar amps in my local area under the Mule brand name

Good point, if I do cross over to the dark side I could cover it ... but I do have a little one in the house that can find her way through anything.
