Smile Allright, admit it...who's watching Downton Abbey?

My wife turned me on to Downton Abbey, which is now streaming on Netflix. Supposedly it's one of the most-watched British TV shows ever.

I'm not much into period stuff, but this is some of the best written, best acted and most beautifully photographed TV I've seen.

And the younger daughter is, well, just heart-breakingly gorgeous.

Anyone else digging this show?

I'm watching it RIGHT NOW!

I love history and in particular WWI and this being the time just before that - I find it fascinating.

It's pretty good. There are ways to have seen the entire second season already in the US, and we've seen most of it already. Really great series, and much better than what my wife normally makes me watch with her.

I haven`t missed an episode yet. The Chistmas show was terrific.

I`m slightly consused as to why it`s something I should have to "admit" to watching.

Downton Abbey, along with Mad Men and Breaking Bad, is one of THE best shows on TV. There is a wealth of information and entertainment in the series.

Also, Maggie Smith, who plays Lord Grantham's mother steals the show.

well, at the end of the day it's a bit of a soap opera, no?

I sort of feel like I'm watching a better written, better acted and more historically interesting version of 'Dallas'

and the costumes...FABULOUS!

Soap operas morphed into "reality shows" a la Kardashians. I don't know enough mathematics to express how much better Downton Abbey is than that.

yes, fair enough...although one could argue that--to put it into TGP-speak--just because a Dumble is orders of magnitude superior to a Peavey Bandit doesn't mean the Dumble isn't still a guitar amplifier...

Once again, another series or film missing from Netflix Canada. Sometimes I wonder why I bother. I see however that I can pay for it on iTunes.
