That's awesome - loved down in flames. I was hoping they'd pull out 'let's get rockin' - that's another hidden gem with a great riff.

Wow...Ed's tone is BURNING! It sounds like he's playing through a Dave Friedman tweaked Marshall! I LOVE IT!

The band sounds great, but I'm not convinced by Dave's vocals. Sounds like they struggled to get a good vocal performance on pitch. He was always a great charismatic front man, but his vocals live were pretty rough often. Everything I've heard recently sounds as if what little vocal ability he had has degraded further with age. I hope I'm wrong as I'm a huge fan of the Dave era stuff, one of the best and most influential rock bands ever.

Yep, from what I heard of the Cafe Wah show Dave is definitely the weak link. My guess is its going to grate on Eddie's nerves, I know it would grate on mine.
DLR's time might have passed.

That said however, on the recording I'm sure he's fine.

Actually, I thought that Dave sang pretty well on their last tour in 2008. I'm not worried about it. plus, go back and watch the old live Youtube stuff from the 70's and 80's. He's never been stellar vocally. But, he makes up for it in other ways. I'm fine with him.

He used the EVH 5150 III from Fender on a lot of the recording. The amp is capable of doing all the sounds you heard.

Also, a lot of you are punks. You judge Daves voice by an unmixed half assed recording at a small club. Your lucky to even hear his voice in that situation.

Take the needle out of your arm and grow up. You'll have a fine time at the concert; unless you don't go. Keep talking! Maybe your irrationality will win and you won't go. There's probably another real EVH fan who will enjoy it more. Or maybe you can catch the next Hager VH tour?

It's never been about the voice w/ Dave.
He's Diamond freaking Dave. Part of the circus. Enjoy the ride.

Another thing some of you "kids" don't get. The fans there that night. The ultra cool journalists? Most can't sing at all and all were singing with VH that night. All those portable recorders are picking up their own voices and everyone around them. THey are all out of tune. Dave's voice sounded fine if you can hear it through the mess.

He's being Dave. And besides, is it just us guitar players but I know when I go to see Van Halen, I don't care who's singing-I'm there to geek out on Ed.

Really?

As someone said in another thread, it sounds like Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" (which they used to use as a warm up nightly), both in tone and style.

As for the song itself (at least the amount linked to in the original post), lackluster.

Steve
