This guitar was purchased as two separate MIJ Fenders, the guitar that donated the body was purchased by me and the guitar that donated the neck was purchased by another forum member. I and another local guy did the finish work.

This Samick Valley Arts Series was bought by the same other forum member at a pawn shop and I did the refinish.

I bought this bass a couple years ago at a pawn shop that I almost never patronize.

This Yamaha amp (which is my #2) was bought at the biggest pawn shop in Indy.

And I got this Vox AD60VTX and another pawn shop a while back.

Bought this Harmony cheapie and put the Dimarzio SDS1 in it... other than the neck heavy balance and the sharp low E string, this guitar sounds great
through my 1x12 5F1 Tweed Champ.

Pawn shop scores? Is there any such thing? This will be a short-lived thread.

Just posted in another thread about this one, so I won't put it here too, but does Salvation Army/Goodwill count as a "pawn shop" score? I got a cool old Sears & Roebuck (Kimberly/Silvertone) solid body for $98. If I were to sell it on eBay, it's worth about $200, but I'm keeping it as it's way cool.

Other than that, from good old-fashioned pawn shops, I've found an Ibanez "Bob Weir" model 2681 (worth $1500+, bought for $700), an Ibanez Artist 2619 (worth $800+, bought for $300), a USA Fender Standard Tele (worth $700+, bought for $300), and the coupe de grass, an original Ibanez Tubescreamer 808 (worth $500+, bought for $20). But lately the deals have been few and far between, due not only to the increasing use of the Internet, but because of the whole "picker" craze, as guys with big money descend on the pawns and buy up lots of guitars at "as-is" prices. They buy up a bunch of junky Squiers and First Acts, but they also get the gems thrown in that make it worth-while.

I realize the "pawn shop score" dead, as the other thread says...but I just want to see ones from years past and if a recent one does show up, here's the place to put it. Even if you don't buy it, if you see something cool in a shop take a pic a post it!

1968 Strat that I paid $249 for in 1996. The owner said it was "one of those crappy CBS 70'a guitars". He was a jackass. About a year later, I also bought a 1966 Twin Reverb for $99 in great condition.

Probably 15 years ago and I bought a Fender Superchamp for $125 and then a TC Electronic Booster Line Distortion, TC Compressor, and a TC 4outlet power supply for $160.
Since then deals like that just do not show up anymore. One of the downsides to the internet.

Most of you guys are clearly not going to the right pawn shops.

At those prices that's a 'good' pawnshop.

Here are two: the amp from an Escondido shop for $75 ['92] and the Ric from a Long Beach shop for $35 ['72!].

Got this in a pawn shop back in around 2004 (i think) for $350. It was practically brand new. I added the black dress up kit and call her "Death Alley Driver"
