Telecaster Pickup Wiring Question

I think this is the right place for this...

I wired in a DiMarzio Minibucker I picked up on the emporium in the neck position of my telecaster. It's perfect. Very much between a humbucker and a single coil sound - maybe slightly more humbucker. Anyway, it sounds good, and I can wire it for coil tap later to get my single coil sound back.

I already had a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails for Tele pickup in the bridge.

When I added the DiMarzio Minibucker the Hot Rails now sounds a good bit lower in volume.

- Could they be out of phase? It doesn't sound out of phase in the middle position, just a good bit lower volume in the bridge position.

- Can you even have two humbuckers out of phase?

- Or, if the middle position sounds normal, is it just that the SD Hot Rails is lower output?

Thanks for any help that could be offered!

Yes, it is certainly possible to have two humbuckers out of phase with each other. However, the out of phase condition is only apparent when both pickups are being used, together. Even if your neck pickup were out of phase with your bridge pickup, you would not notice it when using the bridge pickup, alone.

It is entirely possible, even probable, that the Hot Rails has lower output than the minibucker.

Thanks Jim. That is what I thought. Just wanted to check! Can you compare outputs just by looking at the specs? I am pretty sure I read an article with Jason Lollar where he mentioned the numbers on paper were only part of the actual result of volume/tone.
