Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy) - Axe FX Ultra

OK. I am NOT a country music guy. But, I thought that it would be fun to take a stab at this one. ("Save a Horse - Ride a Cowboy" by Big & Rich)

I had fun with this one today. Please forgive the cheesy banjo and violin sounds, which I had to perform on a keyboard. The mix could also be vastly improved and I don't like the drum sound. Oh, and I am NOT a country music singer by any stretch. Having said that, I had a good time with it. The guitar solos were improvised in 1 take. I suppose that they could have been more melodic. Anyway, the guitars were a Fender telecaster through a Fractal Audio Systems "Axe FX Ultra" (Matchless Chieftain amp sim through a Mesa Recto cabinet IR) - recorded direct (FRFR).

I felt like sharing. So, here it is...

Thanks. Yeah, I did both vocals. I agree that I like the lead tone the best. I should have mentioned that the Matchless sim was the rhythm guitars. The solos used the Traiwreck sim.

If I heard/saw you playing somewhere, I'd stay awhile.

That was pretty damn good for "just having fun".

That sounded great Ben! What Mesa IR is that out of curiosity? Was it one in the Axe or a Redwirez/OH, etc?

On the rhythm guitars, it was the stock "4x12 Recto 2" cabinet (or, whatever it's called). The lead guitar for solos was a combination of 2 other stock cabs. I forget which ones. I'll update this reply later tonight when I'm back home and check it out.

Update: On the lead sound, the cabs were a combination of the stock "4x12 Recto 2" and "4x12 V30"

This is my current favorite in my top 40 gig. Gets the crowd moving and just all around fun to play (love to quick drop down to D and kick that opening riff).

That sounds fantastic, and the lead is phenomenal. I always try to cop the fiddle part for the second half of the solo, but I think yours sounds way better, so I'm going to steal it.
:-)

Ha! Thanks, hanales.

Feel free to rip me off. On the second half of that solo section, just throw your pickup selector to "neck" and let 'er rip!
