Bands you weren't into that much until you saw them live

About a year ago my friend gave me a cd by Los Lonely Boys. I thought they were good but they didn't really move me that much...Until I saw them live.
This was in a small outdoor venue and these guys rocked it. Their music came over completely different to me live.
The musicianship was outstanding, the songs were good, the tones were great
(think slightly overdriven vintage strat tones), and they just had alot of energy and obviously loved what they were doing. The audience could see this and it was contagious. It was a welcome suprise and a enjoyable night.

This ever happen to you?

The Dead.

I had a friend in college from the east coast who went on an on about them, played the music, told me I had to go, etc. Finally relented and was hooked from the minute I hit the parking lot! lol

I got tired of hearing their stuff on TV and reluctantly went to their show (the Brothers tour) I am now a fan.

I did not really get into them at all until I saw them in Cleveland in the 80's. When I was the only one that didn't know every single word to every song, that's when I realized what a great act this was.

Spacehog. Saw them live in '98, having ignored their debut LP. Absolutely wicked performance.

House of Blues Boston in March 2011....Clutch & Valient Thorr opened for Motorhead. Had heard of Clutch, but didn't know their music. Never heard of Valient Thorr. I am now a big fan of both bands.

Same venue in September 2009....Rev. Horton Heat & Nashville Pusssy opened for Motorhead. Hadn't a clue of either band 'til I saw them. Love them both now.

Old school here. Little Feat. I thought their records were lousy. My best buddy took me to see them, on the last tour with Lowell George. I came away a convert. They were all excellent, but Lowell George's slide tones still live in my mind.

John Mayer, Keith Urban, Jonny Lang, and Jon McLaughlin (the pop artist), Bonamassa, Ray Lamontagne, and the Foo Fighters for my list.
