Worth trying to get a Rokit 5 fixed?

Just jumped my download rate from 1 meg to 20 megs going from dsl to cable. It's been great. Now, about an hour ago, with NO loud sounds (ie, no overdriving), one of my KRK Rokit 5s died. Just dead. No light, no nothin'... damn. Are these things worth sending off for repair? I'm not sure how long I've had them... probably over a year, so I'm not sure about a warranty. Gotta do some digging. Any opinions? Are these throwaways?

Have you checked the fuse?

Excellent idea! Yes, the fuse was blown. I put the replacement fuse in and it immediately blew.

I opened it up and found nothing, ie, no evidence of scorch or fry or anything like that.

I found my old MF order, dated 6/10. I never buy extended warranties, so I'm probably screwed. I dug out some old small Paradigm 2 way speakers I'd parked and wired them to my Carvin DCM200L. Plenty of sound, but not the crisp highs I had before. Oh well.....

For all of you guys waiting on the edge of your seats to find out the fate of my Rokit 5, I contacted KRK and it turns out there's a 3 yr factory warranty, and I found my MF receipt from 6/10, so other than shipping one way, I can get it fixed gratis. Sorry you all had to lose sleep over this....

Yes but had you bought the MF warranty as well it would have gotten even more fixed.

I had a KRK 8 blow out and called KRK in Florida. Cost me $149 and they sent me a new amp. Dropped right in and works great. Totally worth it.
