George L's and Lava ELC cable... can they be soldered?

So I'm about to rewire my whole board, but I want to avoid the solderless route... I'm not a fan of the Monorail - my tone is much darker than my friend's George L wired board, so I would like to wire it up with George L cable, as long as it can be soldered easily to the GLS Pancake Plugs that I've been using.

Anyone wire up their boards w/ soldered George L or Lava ELC cables?

If so, what could I use for stress relief jackets?

My pedalboard has George L's cables with soldered pancake plugs. It works great.

The GLS pancakes are .425" thick (part that sticks out). There are other pancakes that are less than .25". I was going to use GLS but they are too thick.

I soldered some right angle plugs to some thin George L cables and wired up my pedal board with it. Yes...it's very do able and not that hard.

To the OP:

You can certainly use GL's or Lava in a soldered capacity. You can also use the larger diameter .255mm GL's cable or you can use this on the .155mm cables: http://best-tronics.com/mm5/merchant...de=HEAT_SHRINK

If you already have the GL's smaller diameter, then the rubber grommet is the most efficient way to go.

I didn't quite understood this. Are you saying that the GLS Pancake plugs fit better on the .255mm George L's cables?

They are larger in diameter, yes. I believe its the same diameter as the Mogami 2319 and the Monorail. If you use the smaller diameter GL's, I would suggest using the grommets I posted about earlier.

Where would I get these grommets? From George L's site?

I posted a link in an earlier reply. The link is to the Best-tronics.com website to that particular page. Post number 6.
