Hi,

If it sounds this good in a camera mic then I have great hope for an excellent sound in a proper environment.

Cheers,

Mats N

Yeah Alex is one hell of a guitar player, always very tasteful with fantastic chops.
However i don't agree on the gain tone dynamics he's talking about.
I can still hear the cocked wah in there and the tones are compressed and fizzy nothing like a nice open brown sound at all.
When you lower the volume on your guitar or you just play softer and it results in less distortion that's not the same for me as good high gain dynamics (the gt-10 could more or less do that).
It's how tones sustain and die out and how well different picking techniques result in different tonal variations like squeezing a note.
The high gain tones Alex demonstrates in the vid still sound very artificial to me, like i said; compressed in a way they just become dull.

Exactly !!!

People here are still "believers" that the gt-100 sounds better than the gt-10.
To me it sounds just as bad as the gt-10 in terms of Cocked-Wah.
In fact this video is the perfect example of Boss COSM Cocked-Wah super Dynamic "Tone".

Basically nothing is changed except Cosmetics and a few "Advanced" amps based on the ST-2 & BC-2 topology,
which don't even come close to Line 6 HD series or even Zoom or Digitech.

Took'em FOUR freaking Years.

Sheesh...

It's just a matter of preference ... relativity in action ..
To my ears the Zoom G3 produces sounds I've no desire to incorporate into my music ..
There not even a real 'clean' sound in the Zoom G3... that totally deems it invalid in my musical world ...
So the comparisons pertain only to the genre which one dwells in ...
Maybe a genre or 2 to be more forgiving ...

With all due respect ... this cocked wah comparison is kinda off the wall IMO ...

Come on, the solo he played 2:00 to 2:20 sounds like an amp that has been placed in a cardboard box, no attack just flat with no dynamics at all.
In a live situation with a loud drummer such a sound will never cut through you might as well put on a vacuum cleaner, people won't be able to tell the difference because the sound will degrade to background noise.

Well, I'll be playing one on a stage with a loud drummer and a 15 piece band tonight, so I can let you know if it cuts or not. The sounds I've programmed are a bit different than that video - I think he's just using the presets. So far, in real life in a room, it sounds like an amp to me once dialed in.

And those are the kinds of reviews and feedback that I would give FAR more weight to then a YouTube video. Please let us know how it goes tonight and have a great gig!!!

I just brought a GT100 home from GC to try and compare to my HD500. First of all I want to say I really wanted to like the GT100. I have owned the GT6, then the GT8, and then the GT10. I LOVED the functionality of the GT10. I always said that if I could put the amp tones of the HD500 in a GT10, I would have my ideal setup. Anyway, I plugged in the GT100 into my K10 and what I heard amazed me. This is Advanced COSM? It sounded like a GT10 with a little less of the CW problem. Yeah, it was a little clearer than the GT10, and the dynamics were better, but it did not hold a candle to the HD500. I will say up front that I did not even try any of the presets. I am familiar enough with the GT programming to start out and program in a custom amp, cab and OD. Now this thing might be okay for the HM crowd, but I can't get it back to GC fast enough. Sorry Boss, but for me, this was a total bust. COSM tone through and through. Now if you like the COSM tonality, this may be your cup of tea, but since I have been away from it for a while now (sold the GT10 for an RP1000, which I sold for the HD500), I have grown a distaste for the COSM sound. I also have to admit that there is a lot of options for changing the tone, and if someone were really good at it, they might get something out of it I missed, but I doubt it from what I heard (no matter how I tweaked it). So this is my opinion, and if you are interested in it, you should try it for yourself, but it isn't for me.

Now this review is revealing ... thanks for the un-biased comparison ..

Let me first say that you are one hell of a guitar player ...
really dig the stuff you're doing in the genre you play in ..

But are you sure you aren't an un-biased promoter of the Zoom GE ...?
Kind of looks like your whole website is a great demo of what can be done (dialed in)
with the Zoom G3 by a killer, Rock guitarist such as yourself ..

I mean you call your website: ... Guitar Mayham ... lol

For my purposes, not one of those 'great Zoom 3 tones"
you demo beautifully on your site would be something I could or would use in the music I play ..

When I had my Zoom G3 here, I could not find a clean tone which was totally clean ...
The grit was there in every tone. Playing completely clean is more important
that all out, balls to the way, VH type of brown sound in the music I play...

Besides that, I use a Bose L1 unit to run a modeler through ..
So there's never a problem cutting through a mix ...
...
