The Kemper Nuisance....

This probably came to mind because I used to work in a music store years ago, and I can totally see something like this becoming an irritant to boutique shop owners everywhere.

Kemper Nuisance: Walks into local boutique music store with lunchpail looking device and asks proprietor if they can profile all of the stores amplifiers at no charge.

I think it's possible that we might start seeing more resticted return policies on amps.

Well, I assume that If a guy buy one amp a week then return it each time the sellers will certainly ask for some explanations...

90% of the guitar shops out there won't even know what a Kemper is.

Rudy's Music Stop in NYC is like a beggar's banquet of brand new boutique amps.

True. In the beginning you could probably go into those shops under the guise of, "I wanted to show you this really neat new technology", and profile "all" of their inventory..........

Give it a few years though, & any customer that walks in with that "space aged looking lunchbox" will probably have a gun pointed at them!

Prime example. "Hey Rudy, check out this new Kemper thingy I got. I'll show you how it works, I just need to "Demo" all your inventory"!

The big chain stores can't do anything about this. Their return policy is what it is and they cannot prove what someone is doing with the amp. If the amp is returned within the proper time frame, in original box, and looks perfect etc.... nothing they can do.
Plus guys can always send their buddy or girlfriend to buy for them if they ever get blacklisted.

The smaller boutique shops don't usually have much of a return policy.

OR what about this one: " Hey! Rudy! I'm doing a comparing study about the sweet spot of different boutique amps and here is my old fashioned recorder..."

Actually, the big banks haven't been on Wall St. for a long time. Rudy's is in midtown where most banks/funds/attorneys are now.

Distance selling regulations in the uk (and the rest of the eu I think) means that a store that sells goods online or by mail/telephone order must provide a cooling off period during which time the buyer can change their mind and return the goods for a full refund.
