Choices, choices, choices.....low gain overdrive

Okay, still in the hunt for my lower gain sound and have narrowed down my choices to a few pedals and want to know what people think of them in real life as I like what I hear from the various demos I've heard but that's never real life:

JHS Morning Glory
Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret
Fulltone Robin Trower

I am leaning towards the JHS as it seems to have the closest sound to a real amp though the Catalinbread and Fulltone pedals sound pretty nice.

Thoughts?

Those are three very different pedals, and none are really "low-gainers." The DLS is a Marshall-in-a-box. The Robin Trower is a very compressed lead sound. The Morning Glory is probably the best of the three for low gain, it's more open for sure. But be sure to look into other pedals know for Low Gain as their function, like a Bearfoot HBOD, Mad Prof. SHOD, Timmy, Subdecay Liquid Sunshine, etc.

I will check those out, thanks for the input...

+1 on Wundergussy.

I'll throw in two more:
Cheap: Boss OD-3
Expensive: Himmelstrutz Fitzo

Barber LTD is my favorite.

Also, the Boss BD2 and Fulltone OCD with the gain around 9:00 can be used nicely as low gainers.

Had the LTD, pretty good pedal, not quite the sound I want (also had a 1/2 gainer).

The SHOD and the Honey Bee, were those designed by the same company/person? They sound very similar though the Honey Bee is uber expensive, my a$$ would be in a sling.

I have space for one low-mid gain pedal on my board, I have a Rockett pedals Flex Drive on there right now but am not sure I want to keep.

The Himmelstrutz sounds amazing but again, $375 is just too much, I want to keep it at $200 or under.

Keep the ideas flowing, appreciate the ideas.

Nick Greer Tone Smuggler is a very nice & inexpensive low gainer...

The Barbershop is an excellent low-gainer.

I don't have many low-gainers, but if you don't like Barber like I do, maybe a CMATMODS Butah?

I'll bet it is. I've got their Four Eyes Fuzz and I can imagine from that the Barbershop would be excellent, too.

I think that the reason for the confusion as to the HBOD & The SHOD are in the names "Honey" They are very different. SHOD is tighter more agressive, more gain. HBOD warmer, rounder & rich. Both great low gainers.

I wouldn't buy from JHS, but I think the Timmy would fit the bill.

Of the ones you listed I'd say Morning Glory! The thing sounds great. I'm also on the Timmy bandwagon though
