Help me find if my Vintage 30's are english or chinese

Hi, guys. Does the "16EN" labeled on the magnet of my speakers stands for "16 Ohms/England"? Could they possibly be chinese? Thanks.

I'm not the guru, but I *think* they will say "Made in England" if they're the English variety. I have a G12T-75 in my Rivera and it says "Made in England" on it.

Mine, yes it's a different model, doesn't say what ohms it is. The little sticker in your first pic is the only place to tell the ohms on mine. The big sticker on mine just lists the model and over to the right it says "Ipswich, England".

My G12H30 has Made in China on the small sticker and Celestion International, on the big sticker. FWIW, it sounds great after break in (around 50 - 100 hours of play time).

My Germino (aka EXPENSIVE) 4x12 came with the standard Greenback re-issues, which are made in China. The rig sounds great. That's all that matters.

I read somewhere that for V30s if it says "50" on the label its Chinese. MIE speakers should say "Made in England."

This... your speaker[s] is/are MIC, not MIE.

Dunno what the 16EN means... the 16 <ohm character> to the right of the "T3904" indicates the speaker is rated at 16 ohms.

And... the "Made in England" bit would be on the magnet label, directly above the "Vintage 30" line... I think... at least it was on the 70th anny G12H's I had...

And this could open up a whole lot of "is one better than t'other?" spewage.

I don't have a "read" either way. To hear Celestion reps tell the tale, no diff.

The Chinese Celestion factory is better organized, uses the same raw materials and has a lower failure rate than the UK plant. I have some and they sound amazing.

Actually, it reads 13.3 Ohms.

A friend went to a store and tried an used english Vintage 30 versus a brand new chinese Vintage 30, side by side. He said although the english version was used, it sounded harsher... but he bought it anyway, because he was afraid of loosing money in the future, in case he needs to sell it.

Do you mean it "tests" at 13.3 ohms?

A 16 ohm will read/test at around 12-14 ohms. That's normal.

Yes. Sorry for the misleading information, that's because english is not my first language.

from what I have read is the chinese speakers will have the sticker on the side of the magnet like yours is showing (and the "50" on it as already mentioned) and the the english made speakers have an ink stamp on the basket frame with some code and the 8/16ohm impedence value.
