Crackling in Amplitube 3

I'm trying out Amplitube 3 but can't seem to get it to work well (I'm new to this stuff).

I'm using a Scarlet 2i2 interface with a windows 7 64bit system.

The interface works flawlessly with S-gear, but I get a 'crackling' sound when I try Amplitube 3.

I'm about to give up on it.

-works fine if you bypass the amp. turn the amp on, and it crackles. However, it only crackles when playing, not when 'just plugged in'.
- Using 44100 sample rate
- Have a fast computer - checked cpu usage, and it's low (crackles on all amps)
- tried running on battery power (computer), but doesn't appear to be a ground loop issue
- have latest driver for 2i2.
- amplitube has been authorized.

Kind of sounds like static.

Any help would be appreciated.

i had a problem recently on amplitube 3 where the leslie unit caused pops and clicks like crazy, even with low cpu usage. it's got to be a bug or interaction. i had to abandon it and use GR for that track. fwiw. best of luck.

you guys could probably try adjusting buffer size in your sound card control panel or perhaps latency settings in your DAW app. This has happened to me many times and one of these two things almost always cures it. I am running AT2 and 3 as a plug in with Sonar 8 PE and as standalone on occasion. My soundcard is an older M-Audio Delta 66.

Depends on what kind of "crackling".
From what you're describing, it sounds like part of the modeling process.
It's actually part of real amps too I think. The crackling you're hearing - is it subtle and kind of starts a tiny bit after the initial attack, and then fades out as the note decays?

It's more pronounced in "modeling" because they're modeling a close mic'ed cab vs in real life when your ear is not right next to the speaker.

AT3 initially sounded really good, but when I started to listen closely I heard a lot of things I didn't like... I don't think it's a latency issue I just think you're hearing parts of the modeling you don't like.

I hear it in other modelers too (depending on the settings, usually with distortion or things cranked, in Pod HD 500 and GR5)... I could be wrong but that's my experience.

Yes, that pretty much sounds like what it's doing. I'll have to play around with it a bit and see what happens.

I'll check the sound card settings too.

Thnks for the help!

It sounds "normal". Nothing I did took it out (on distortion patches, clean was ok I think). I started to get really annoyed but after playing with my Vox practice amp (50watt modelling one) I just figured all amps make that noise...

Also listening to some clips online I started hearing it everywhere and figured it's normal depending on the gain, distortion etc.

Just tried it through ableton live 8 lite and it seems to have fixed the problem - or made it much less noticable.

Bit of a learning curve, but it's fun
